Possui gradua\u00e7\u00e3o em pela Universidade Federal de Pernambuco (1979), mestrado em Mestrado em Ci\u00eancia Politica – Hebrew University Of Jerusalem (1982) e doutorado – University of Chicago (1990), e P\u00f3s-Doutorado pela Unversity of Texas- Austin onde foi profesor visitante do Departamente de Governo. Seu livro FHC, For\u00e7as Armadas e Pol\u00edcia. Entre o autoritarismo e a democracia. 1999-2002, ganhou o pr\u00eamio de melhor livro em portugu\u00e9s fornecido pelo Brazil Section of the Latin American Studies Association (2006). Atualmente \u00e9 coordenador de sub\u00e1rea do Instituto Nacional de Ci\u00eancia e Tecnologia, professor associado da Universidade Federal de Pernambuco, pesquisador tempor\u00e1rio – The British Academy. Tem experi\u00eancia na \u00e1rea de Ci\u00eancia Pol\u00edtica, com \u00eanfase em Estado e Governo, atuando principalmente nos seguintes temas: democracia, autoritarismo, forcas armadas, militares e seguran\u00e7a p\u00fablica.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n
